Building a Reading Habit, Part 4 – How to Make Time for Reading ⏲️

One simple truth about reading: if you don’t have time, you can’t read. But the key is, you’re the one who makes that time. In this post, we’ll explore practical and inspiring ways to create space for reading in your day.

⏳ 1. Schedule Reading Time into Transition Moments

The easiest strategy is to dedicate 10–20 minutes to reading during the most comfortable, flexible time in your day. Simply reclaiming some idle transitions can make a big impact.

🌄 2. Set “Personal Time Blocks” for Reading

Just as we set aside time for appointments or errands, reading deserves a scheduled time too. Choose days or moments in your week when you're least likely to be interrupted and protect that time for books.

🚪 3. Use “Do-Nothing Time” for Reading

Do you often spend 10 minutes scrolling through your phone or zoning out? That time can easily be repurposed into reading time. It’s one of the simplest changes you can make.

✅ 4. Create a “Reading Dashboard” and Identify Your Ideal Time

Don’t overthink which book, when, or where to read. Just start with a simple note of available reading times and stick with one. It makes reading feel much more manageable.

🔹 In the next post, we’ll explore “Building Experiences That Boost Reading Motivation.” Time is made—and motivation grows as you nurture it!
